Xcacel is a sanctuary where every year around 200,000 white and loggerhead turtle hatchlings are released, it hosts a large variety of protected flora and fauna, and it's a place where everyones' cooperation makes us feel proud because the sum of every effort shows us visible results.
Xcacel's model seeks to demonstrate what can be done with collective participation with organization, no matter nationality, culture or any other characteristic. At Xcacel, nature is the great equalizer.
If you come to Xcacel, it is important that you come knowing that we will need your participation to clean, to learn, to help, to take care of the fauna and flora and take care of one another.
The Sanctuary opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00 hrs.
The Cenote is closed for indefinite time.
During nesting season MAY - NOVEMBER, activities at the beach are restricted. Xcacel will open a calendar of activities so you can learn all that goes around at the Sanctuary. Stay tuned.
From DECEMBER - APRIL, only sustainable recreational activities are allowed: swimming ONLY AT THE SAFE SIDE OF THE BEACH, sunbathing, surfing, games at the sand.
All year long are prohibited: alcoholic drinks, processed food, music, or any other activity that threatens the species lives. Check here restrictions.
Please don't forget to bring your own beach equipment, specially a sun umbrella. It is now allowed to access the jungle paths to search for shadow as there are animals that can put your life at risk.
At Xcacel we have no garbage cans, we need you take all your garbage with you. Please take care of the Santuary, it is not a recreational beach. Help us to keep it opened, we need everyone's cooperation.

IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO SWIM IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE BEACH AND WHERE THERE IS A RED FLAG.
Xcacel offers a cove at the left with wonderful possibilities to swim and enjoy the beach.
The central and right part of the beach has really strong tides that are dangerous for any activity.
It is strictly prohibited to swim in zones with a red flag.
Access to Xcacel - Xcacelito is located on Kilómetro 112 de la Carretera Federal 307, Cancún - Tulum en el poblado de Chan Chemuyil
You can use waze or maps, and it will take you directly.

If you take public transport it is very important to ask them to leave you on the side of the entrance to the beach. There are U turns close to the entrance for both ways. Avoid crossing the highway by foot.
If you drive it is important to take the border with anticipation.
When you leave, be careful when you join the highway.
